REHAB Vintage Interiors™ specializes in vintage steel desks and retro office furniture - promoting the industrial style for home and office. Steel basket gym lockers reclaimed from California schools, letters from Los Angeles signage, medical stainless steel storage from hospitals, and industrial workbenches from factories have been some of our signature favorites. REHAB Vintage Interiors was originally founded as Sonrisa Furniture by Peggy and Burke Byrnes in the late 70's as a shop specializing in Latin American folk art. By the 1990's, the Byrnes' had incorporated their new-found love of classic steel furniture; and before long, it became Sonrisa Furniture's trademark. The Byrnes' passion became rescuing vintage furniture including steel desks, credenzas, steel lawyers bookcases and aluminum steno chairs. The process included stripping the old finish and restoring the metal to reveal the streamline curves and hidden beauty of the mid-century steel office furniture.
Over the last several years, we've expanded the home accessories in our store. We search for visually interesting home furnishings that use materials like metal, wood and stone in interesting ways. Look for our tamarind wood block tables, sculptural jungle air roots, silver ocean globes, boucle wire waste baskets, ebonized teak tables, selenite candle holders and unique jewelry for women & men. As of summer 2008, Sonrisa is now under new ownership and a new name; REHAB Vintage Interiors. While we plan to continue the great Sonrisa spirit and the classics that our customers know and love, we're in the process of growing and changing this year.
